Covid precautions from 19th July 2021

We welcome the Government relaxion of the Covid regulations with the beneficial effect it will have on hospitality businesses. Greater emphasis is being placed upon responsibility to be imposed by ourselves, and we have sought the opinions of our campers, employees and people who live locally.

From 19th July adult visitors will be allowed on site provided they check in at reception on arrival. We will also be re-opening the telephone hut and information hut / library although they will be limited to one person at a time. (Copies of walks and drives will also be available from reception for guests not wishing to use the information hut.)

The wearing of masks on the campsite will be optional, and any groups larger than of six people will be allowed to mix.

However, the consensus of opinion steers us to continuing with the following arrangements for the time being:

• Extra cleaning of all the facilities
• Spraying and washing touchpoints at the bins, electric boxes, water taps and handles
• The one-way system around the facilities will remain in place
• Customers at reception and the shop to be served from the entrance
• Use of shower rooms to be limited to one person (or two from the same household) at a time, with each shower room being made unisex to ease any waiting. Main doors and windows will remain open at all times.
• Use of the toilets and washing up room / laundry limited to one person at a time
• Extra attention being paid to the siting of units to maintain good gaps
• The waste and recycling bins will remain only at the entrance to the campsite

We hope everyone who visits the campsite will continue to be safe and to feel safe, and we thank you all for your cooperation.

Tonia, Christine and Paul Matthews.

The Exe Valley Caravan Site, for adults only, occupies a peaceful setting in a wooded valley within the Exmoor National Park.

Set alongside the sparkling River Exe, the campsite has beautiful views, an abundance of wildlife and many footpaths leading to the moors, woodlands and rivers.

It is an ideal location for camping and country loving folk.

Exe Valley Camping Mill

The owners live on site in Bridgetown Mill, which dates back to the 17th Century.  Once a grist mill, it was used for milling flour during the Second World War.

The building is in good repair and most of the Mill machinery is in working order.

The Mill is listed as being the largest on Exmoor, and is usually open for campers to go inside on Sunday mornings.

There is plenty of interest nearby, including Red Deer and Exmoor ponies roaming over heather-clad moors, crystal clear rivers or streams full of wild trout.

Over 50 varieties of birds have been seen on the campsite.

You will find unspoilt villages, National Trust properties and beautiful gardens.  The scenic North Devon coast and Lorna Doone Valley are also within easy reach.

river Exe campsite

The carefully maintained campsite covers 4 acres of level grass between the River Exe and our own mill stream. 47 pitches have electric and TV hook-ups, and there are 18 hard standings.

Every pitch has ample space and enjoys its own section of the bank beside the fast flowing clear water of the river or the mill stream.

A further acre of our land provides for a leisurely stroll up to our weir, and an area where dogs may run free and splash in the river.
